How to configure point expiration in your loyalty program

Set points lifetime in Welcome Back to boost redemptions, motivate your customers, and reduce future financial risk.

What is point expiration?

In Welcome Back, you can define an expiration period for the points your customers earn. This means that after a certain number of days (for example, 30, 90, or 365), unused points will expire automatically. This feature helps encourage faster engagement, reduce long-term financial liability, and launch reactivation campaigns.

How to configure it

Go to Loyalty → your card → Edit → Card Rules. In the Downloaded Card Expiration Policy section, enable it and choose one of three options:

  • Never expire — points never expire.

  • After X days of inactivity — points expire if the customer hasn't made a transaction in X days.

  • After X days from download — points expire X days after the customer downloaded the card.

Important: only the digital card is removed from the customer's wallet. All customer data, points balance, and transaction history remain safely in your database. If a customer re-enrolls with the same email, all their previous data is restored.
