Every type of business has its own rhythms, customers, and opportunities. Here's how to adapt Welcome Back to your operation so it works from day one.
🍽️ Restaurants
Points program
Restaurants typically have higher average tickets. A good rule is 1 point per $100 spent, with redemption starting at 500 points. This drives repeat visits without making the reward feel out of reach.
Recommended campaigns
Birthday: a special discount during the customer's birthday month. This is the message with the highest open rate.
Re-engagement: reach out to customers who haven't come back in 30 days. Offer a one-time benefit to bring them back.
Menu launch: when you update your menu, notify your best customers first. They'll feel like insiders.
Scanner
Install the scanner directly at the register. The ideal flow is: customer pays → cashier scans their card → points are added automatically. Train your team to offer it with every transaction.
Show (digital menu)
If you have the Show module, print the menu QR code on each table. Customers appreciate it and it reduces wear on printed menus. Schedule menus by time: lunch menu, dinner menu, weekend menu.
☕ Cafes
Points program
Cafes have lower tickets but much higher frequency. Use a simpler scale: 1 point per visit or 1 point per $50 spent. Redemption can start at 10 points. The goal is for customers to reach their first reward quickly.
A classic that works: the 10th visit is free. Set it up as an automatic reward at 10 points.
Recommended campaigns
Morning campaign: send an email at 7am with a promotion valid only until 11am. Great for slow weekday mornings.
Loyalty campaign: every 3 months, send a special reward to your most frequent customers (those with the most points).
Scanner
In busy cafes, the scanner needs to be fast. Set the scan mode to a single tap with no extra confirmation steps. Keep the device within easy reach of the cashier to avoid disrupting the flow.
Card distribution
Cafes have an advantage: customers come back often. Add your card link at the bottom of your chalkboard menu or on the counter. A simple sign like "Join our club and earn a free coffee" is enough to get people to scan it.
🍸 Bars
Points program
Bars often have consumption concentrated on specific days. A great incentive is double points on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (your slowest days). Set this up as a time-based points promotion in the dashboard.
Recommended campaigns
Personalized happy hour: notify your frequent customers when today's promotion starts. An email sent at 5pm saying "Double drinks from 7pm tonight" gets great response.
Special event: before a DJ night, wine tasting, or big game, send an invitation to your customer base. People who have visited once have a high likelihood of coming back.
Show (landing page)
The landing page is especially useful for bars. Add an atmosphere video as the hero, buttons to your Instagram, cocktail menu, and the form to join the club. Share the link in your stories every time you have an event.
Scanner
At bars, scanning usually happens when the bill is settled. Train your team to make it a natural part of closing the tab: "Do you have your points card? Let me add today's visit."
General rules for any type of business
Start simple: a simple program that gets used beats a complex one nobody understands.
Train your team: if the cashier doesn't offer the card, customers won't ask for it. 90% of sign-ups happen at the register.
Send campaigns regularly: one campaign per month is enough to stay top of mind. More than two per week starts to feel like spam.
Check your reports: who are your most frequent customers, how many redeemed, how many haven't come back. The data tells you what to adjust.
